A personal band most often does not show the year. A seamless band has in the past beeen a must to prove the year as to young birds. A person could have personal bands for several years Name address phone number. Which does not prove the year the bird is born. Be it NPA AU IF so forth They all show the years and are seamless Are from a reconized organization Allowing proof of year the bands were issued. NPA has all the known band sizes for the different breed lines of pigeons. Making it a 1 stop place to order bands. Then specialty clubs have there NPA breed line band also Which can be puchased. Its no PROBLEM just getting the reconized bands you need. Personal bands Which in most are just an ID band And is most used by people who fly there birds Not many ifd any loft kept birds even NEED a personal ID band. Because they are never let out of the loft. Split bands in old birds used to be allowed at NPA shows But now days a split plastic NPA band is a little more to split wthout breaking the band. BAnds are need to breed your birds RIGHT for your own record keeping If a person does not use some sort of banding Then the person has poor records. And a not so good breeding program Which the birds would be more a pet personal enjoyment Then competing or improving the breed line quality.Band from reconized organization Can be traced back to the club and OWNER If one so trys to do it. Id bands trace Just to the OWNER Which will work But those bands only Can not be used for sole bands for racing or showing. And some kind of standard has to be met To keep people somewhat honest. So if you take the time to see the whole picture these rules are put in place to help all people rather then just some or one. And If every person had to pay the fee to buy persana bands For just ID The band company could not keep caught up And the cost of bands would be much higher. Just plain more good reasons for this then bad reason why one or a few people should get to Use there Id bands SAVES problems.

Do not have to thank you YOU have a right to post your idea. And others have there idea. What youy said in your 2nd post if you look at it it creates more paper work Not only for clubs but all aspect. As of now A person does not have to be a member of the NPA to show there birds Being a member though does support the national effert And that alone gives reason to join. The birds you have you can do anything you wish far as banding. But to show those birds the bands Must be a reconized band. Not to much to ask If a person races or shows there pigeons. The cost of going to shows entering shows Is much more then the cost of a band But agin post youyr ideas Some will agrre others will not But you put your idea out there and that matters to you. so its worth your effert

Hi Pigeonmumbler, at the last NPA Grand National Show in San Diego only the young birds were required to have NPA bands, AU and IF were also allowed. For the most part local shows are not NPA shows and they only require that the bird be banded with a seamless band showing the year and id# However one should check with these shows to be sure of their policy in this matter GEORGE;)
