I was shocked and saddened to hear the news yesterday. :(

Maggie was one special lady, who always had a kind word for everyone and never tried to intimidate anyone, even though she was one of the most knowledgable and caring persons on our website. She was one person who gave this website class, and I will miss her dearly. Even though I didn't know her personally, she would send me a PM now and then...and let me know she was there for me and had my back.

My heartfelt condolensces go out to Lewis and the rest her family-including the "Pigeon Talk" family, and of course.... her special feathered friends, who will also miss her dearly. I'm sending prayers for them.

May you rest in peace, Maggie.

May God bless her entire family during this very trying time.

I have been so shocked and stunned since I heard of this devastating news.:( Dear Maggie was such a very special and caring person to everyone and all the birds she has nursed back to health over the years. It was such a pleasure to have known her through this pigeon-loving community. I will miss her greatly.

I can't believe it!
I'll bet she had a Grand,
Feathered Escort when she reached the Rainbow Bridge. Can you just imagine?!
Poor Lewis. My heart goes out to him.

SHE died,—this was the way she died;
And when her breath was done,
Took up her simple wardrobe
And started for the sun.

Her little figure at the gate
The angels must have spied,
Since I could never find her
Upon the mortal side.

Such a beautiful sentiment

Maggie was my friend. I love her dearly. I will truly miss her.
Maggie was a unique person who felt the rain.... while simple people, like me, just
got wet.
If we each light a candle, she will see how very many loved her.

I was honored to light a candle in memory of such a beautiful spirit, Lady Tarheel. Thank you for the sentiment. Blessings to you and yours, always.

WHAT!? When I read the title, I figured something was up...then when I read that she had passed...I was in total shock. I guess after being here so long, you start to feel like the members like her will be here forever to talk to and get advice from. Like they're too great to die. Although we all know better than that, you still can't help but feel that way.
She was so close! Or at least, compared to most members here. I just wish I could have actually met her :(
Rest In Peace, Maggie.

Thank you for posting this thread, Feather Wings! You, too, are very special to me!

Maggie and I joined PT around the same time. As many of my family site members know, Maggie was very special to me. So much so that I, at times, referred to her as "my sister separated at birth!" I so admired and respected her and Lewis and thought they epitomized what a loving rehab couple should be.

I don't believe the soul/spirit ever "dies." Maggie's spirit will always be with us.

I had the oddest thing happened this morning. My good friend, Vera, called and said she had found a young pigeon in her back yard who was missing tail feathers. She caught the young one and will be bringing over to me. Laugh if you will, but I am positive Maggie had a spirit hand in this!

I have had this poem for a long time and these words say how I truly feel. This is the original version written by Mary Frye.

DO NOT STAND AT MY GRAVE AND WEEP

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.

I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the star shine of the the night.

I am in flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room,
I am the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,

I am not there. I did not die.

Love and Hugs Maggie and Lewis...always

I just don't have words to express my absolute sadness. Maggie was so very special. I will miss her so, so much, her huge kind heart and vibrancy and wisdom she brought to all of us.

We mourn this unspeakable loss that leaves such a hole in our lives, as God takes back one of his favorite angels.

When I heard the news this morning I was hoping and praying that this is some mistake.
Oh dear Maggie, I will miss you so much.
My heart goes out to her family. She was one of the kindest hearts I ever met and I always felt her so close.

RIP, our beloved Maggie.

I just learned of Maggie's death. I can hardly take it in. Little Bird, thank you for the candle link. Maggie, your soul was pure beauty. I will miss you greatly, as will many others. Your presence on earth gave healing and peace to so many through your generous heart. RIP dear friend.

Good bye dear Maggie

Little Bird sent me an E-mail this morning. I read part of the mail, but wondered why did she send me the passing of MAGGIE'S FRIENDS passing. I was ready to leave for work, and closed out and planned to read it later suspecting it was a close friend of Maggie.

Bev called me at work this evening and told me she read on Facebook of her passing away. I checked Feathers posting and just could not believe what I had just thought I read. It took me two times before I was able to grasp that it was real. The last time I "talked" to her was about her boys playing here in Omaha for the College World Series. She was a true devoted fan of her NC Tarheels.

I did not know Lady Tarheel, also known as Maggie NC, but felt like she was the good neighbor next door. So kind, thoughtful, always willing to step in and advise others on pigeon problems...including me when I first joined. She was indeed a first class lady. She was one of my favorite members on this site and I will truly miss her.
