My young fantail pigeon just recovered from a sour crop but he's very weak.
He's just drinking water and can't/doesn't want to eat anything.
What should I feed him to maintain his energy level until he's able to eat.
You can handfeed him small defrosted green peas or a handrearing formula mixed with a little bit of water to form soft balls. Do you have him on Nystatin or Medistatin?
Thank you for replying.
I didn't gave him anything except Apple vinger with water and thankfully he's fine with the crop problem but he's just weak and not eating anything. I fed him some millet and wheat.
He's just drinking water so I was wondering if there's anything liquid suitable for him.
If he is not eating, then I think the problem is still there. He probably has a yeast infection and for that you will need to get Nystatin from a pharmacy.
Needs to be given on an empty crop twice a day. Wait half an hour and then feed. They need 30 000 units per 100 gr bodyweight. It could be canker as well, but first see if the Nystatin makes a difference.
