I am helping someone on Craigslist who found a pigeon with a broken wing. She doesn't like birds and hopes someone can take it. It has a band but she doesn't want to touch it. I am waiting for a more exact location from her but she mentioned Silicon Valley Wildlife so I imagine she is near there. Anyone nearby that can take the bird tomorrow??

Hang on! I'm in the Midwest.
But I'm sure there will be somebody out there real soon.

MaryJane - I'm headed down to halfmoon bay with my dad tomorrow, and could pick it up on my way back up if necessary, but I've never treated broken wings before. Is someone able to receive it if i manage to pick it up?

This is a 2009 bird.......just a baby......most likely a homer.........I'd try to find the owner before you start a journey with it. It's probably not TOO far from home.

The band number is actually NPA 8 09 BB 2441

The ( NPA ) means it originated from the National Pigeon Association.

The (8) is the band size.

The (09) is the year the pigeon was born.

The (BB) is the band alphabetical sequence.

The (2441) is a unique serial number for identifying that individual bird

Here is who you can contact.

Thank you very much Renee, I sent that info to her so hopefully that will help find the owner--and hopefully he'll want it back! ;)
