I have a young bird that does not fan out its tail whenever it lands. It would stay straight only . It started doing this a week ago after returning from a training toss 30 minutes after the group. The bird looks nice and healthy with no signs of sickness. My question is does anyone know what the problem can be?

That's strange. I haven't seen a bird just drop without spreading the tail (heck, if I even hold a bird any other way that straight, out fans the tail to keep balance  ), unless it was sick. I once had a bird with paratyphoid. Acted fine and looked fine, just wouldn't fly. But you say yours flies so I don't know. Unless a hawk or something got a hold of the poor thing's rump and messed up it's butt motor skills :p

I think I may have read one like that before. It has tail injury.
