Please Help! Found Banded Pigeon -Injured Leg! Need Referrals & Advice (Anaheim, CA)

I found an injured pigeon/dove today laying in the middle of a parking lot behind a motel tonight at 10:30 PM. She did not fly away when approached, so I gently nudged her into a box I had in my car, as she would easily have been run over so I could not leave her there...

She has a band, and it traces to some local pigeon sale company who sells racing pigeons. Someone told me that if she is returned there, they will consider her "damaged goods" and kill her. Is this really true?

I placed her in a small dog crate, covered partly w/towels, put a warm clay heated pad and blankets, some homemade pedialyte water and lined the cage with newspapers. She is resting in my bathroom. She puts weight on her one foot, and there is some dried blood but it has clotted for now.

She needs medical attention, and I will be calling the wildlife rehabbers here in southern CA first thing tomorrow AM but will they take her, and keep her safe? Plus she is a tame/domesticated pigeon, so not sure if they will take her since she is not wild? What will they do with her after she is recovered?

I would love to keep her but I have several inside only cats, and I don't have a safe place for her to live in my home permanently. She's sequestered in a quiet, draft-free bathroom for now:)

Also, what can I feed her tomorrow if at all?

Will this be a large vet bill with an avian specialist if no rehabber is willing to take her?

Can I take her to my regular vet or does he have to have avian experience?

There is no way I'm going to attempt to fix her leg myself, as I don't know what the issue is. I am also worried that unnecessary transport will stress her out so would like to find a rescue or rehabber who can properly help her rehabilitate then rehome or keep her...

:p

RE: Injured Banded Pigeon

UPDATE: I found a wonderful rehabber to address what appeared to be a badly broken leg thanks to a hungry hawk. Its badly damaged so she is on antibiotics, so please send out good thoughts and prayers for her so she can make it to see the sun again....

Owner was not able to be found, though we tried.

She is very sweet, docile, and a beautiful girl...:)
