Two things.

One, genetics. Some birds are hatched with blue or black pigmented tongues.
Two, severe respiratory infection.

I was checking up on my homers and saw that there were two that had black/gray on the tip of there tongue. I read somewhere that black tongue are culls and so just wanted to ask PT members on opinions.
