I'm not convinced that faster racing pigeons will come in the form of a "magic pill".....there are all kinds of drugs which induce better sports performance. However, most of these drugs are illegal in sports. If we focus on drugs or "magic pills" to enhance our pigeon's performance, IMHO we are focusing our energy in the wrong direction.

resveratrol can be from natural sources, and may not even be a drug

Resveratrol is a highly active phytonutrient compound found in over 70 species of plants, the richest natural source is from dark grape extracts.

I wouldn't think of using it, natural.... or not on any bird, without finding out if it is safe (find out from manufacturer and their biochemist) , as some human products cannot be used on birds, while others can.

If I have to use "medicines" or specialized performance enhancers in order to get a good performance from my birds vs. the rest of the fliers birds, then it's time for me to quit.

Well said Ralph.The last thing pigeon flyer's need right now is any suggestion of "druging". We're already in the dog house!

It probably depends on our definition of a "drug." That chemical they are talking about seems to be found in grapes. Is feeding them grapes, perhaps, considered "drugging?" I think giving them steroid or other performance enhancing drug is the one I am against with.

In human athlete those "magic pills" or performance enhancing drugs do work. Obviously it comes with a price because too much abuse will get you sick in the long run (besides it is illegal.)

* Yes, it is a phytnutrient, which is natural and not a drug, however it can be man-made, a synthetic and then it could be classified as a drug.
