I must have been living under a rock because I didn't know that here in San Diego we have a pigeon loft inside our famous zoo. I don't know how many times I've went there, but I usually don't go to the children's area so now it helps to go explore other places inside the zoo. Here is the link: http://www.pigeon.org/famouszoo.htm

I feel really dumb and uninformed. Kudos to Mike McConnell to make that loft possible.

I guess I won't be turning down anymore free zoo tickets. I don't know how many times I've been to the zoo but this is the first time I hear/see that they got pigeons.

Thanks!

Like you've ever told a lie, George! :D That is pretty cool. I'll have to make it down there sometime.

What a great way to teach people about pigeons. Very smart. And I'm sure the kids just love it. Thanks for sharing it.

That is so cool  and the San Diego Zoo has got to be one of the best places/zoo's to educate people about pigeons.

Thanks for sharing.

This is wonderful. If George thinks so highly of Mike to name one of his babies after him, he must be a terrific person. :)

Exhibits like this can only help pigeons - hopefully all who see the exhibit will have a positive impression of pigeons.

Hi MAGGIE, I will post the story about SMOKED YA MIKE at a later date I do not wish to detract from the fine job that MIKE Mc CONNELL is doing at the zoo. .....GEORGE;)

Chilangz,

I've been to that zoo lots of time. I think I went there like 3 times last year or so and twice the previous year, but because I don't go to the children's zoo, I didn't have a clue. Now who do you think is more foolish? That would be me.

George,

I am myself interested on that naming story.

Everyone,

You are all welcome! I like to share good stuff I find in the Internet. What is cool about the zoo is that they have those exotic fruit pigeons/doves that are beginning to get extinct so they are trying to breed them. Apparently their habitat destruction is causing their populations to dwindle and because those fruit doves only eat fruits and people are cutting those fruit trees, they are in a very serious risk. The bird aviary is my favorite spot there.
