when buying or selling pigeons that are being shipped,what happens if the pigeon dies in transport?

You are out the bird the post office does nothing. I have some birds that I would like to ship but our PO closes early and the birds would have to sit in a sweat box till after 5PM so I'm just going to hold off till it cools down some.

Thanks for the tips,I do want to make some of my pigeons available for shipping, but I think rhe cooler weather would make more since and I'm going to give them some vitamin inriched food to make sure they make it through the shipping process.

shipping should only be done in good weather, also avoiding shipping around Christmas or when weather is snowy, looking at both sent from and send to weather. snow causes deleys. a healthy bird should be fine for 72 hours. telling the people to pick up at the post office and having the post office call at arrival really helps take time off in the box instead of the birds having to go on route with the postal worker.
