I have a flight of over 50 Ringneck Doves. Several of my fledglings are getting these disgusting growths on their beaks and eye lids! I have never seen anything like this in the 6 years of so I've had my flock. I've separated the bird from the rest of the flock...treated with topical antibiotics to no avail. They just seem to get worse? Any idea what the heck this is and how I get rid of it? I use apple cider vinegar on a regular basis in their water, feed good seed, grit, etc. The adult doves are all fine...it's just the young fledglings that seem to be getting this creepy crud! HELP!

Seems like they have avian pox. It's a virus so there's no direct treatment for it, only vaccination of uninfected birds.

Do you have a lot of mosquitoes round there? It is usually carried by them, or else transmitted by other doves/pigeons which have it.
