Hi all,

I was gifted a pigeon by a neighbor who was leaving and couldn't care for it. I need advice on a cage and how to care for it, including allowing it to fly outside it's cage and return at night.

Stats:
1. It was caught yesterday, when a neighbor found it in the front yard being attacked by a crow.
2. It's missing tail feathers and can't fly.
3. He tried feeding it but now at 24 hours, it hasn't eaten.
4. I've got it in a box and am seeking a larger cage.
5. The box is lined with cedar branches, with a bowl of water and a plate of wild bird food.
6. I covered the box with a screen and stones on the corner to weight it down and covered the screen with more cedar branches until I secure a cage. It's now 3pm PST 5/16/18.

Can someone please help me with this pigeon? If there's a wildlife rescue place nearby, will seek their advice. But I'll go to the wild bird store here in Eugene, Oregon. Any immediate advice on feeding/watering; temperatures needed, shelter? Thanks so much. Liz

How old is the bird? Baby or adult? He needs to be brought inside the house and in a cage large enough for him to be able to flap his wings.
