Hello! I recently adopted a handsome albino ringneck dove from my local shelter, and I just found out (despite my extensive research before adopting him) that doves, and birds in general, require a source of artificial daylight in order to properly utilize vitamins, similar to how reptiles do.
I already have 2 bearded dragons, so Im familiar with how all the lighting stuff works. Unfortunately, none of the pet stores in my area have avian specific lights, or were even aware such a thing existed.
Would I be able to use a daylight spectrum CFL designed for a reptile with my dove? Or would it not be the right kind of light? I have full spectrum mercury vapor lights for my lizards, would borrowing one from my lizards work for my dove, at least as a temporary solution?
Thanks for the help!
