I am hoping that someone can help me. I have been looking for information on an illness that my mindian has. as a result, I am almost sure that it is E coli. I have Sulfadimethoxine soluble powder. A couple of years ago I had taken my bird to a vet and was given at the time Albon. Same med.

Now my problem is that everything I have read gives a dosage for more than one bird, and I only have one bird. I am desperate to get a dosage for a mindian fantail pigeon. Any assistance would be very much appreciated. :(

here is what one site says.. so you may have to mix a gallon and keep it in the fridge as her sole drinking water for the how ever many days it says. or find another med in pill form that is given individually from a pigeon supply site. here is the copy of the info.

Albon Powder 3.77 oz
Item #: F545………………………………………...…..$17.95
Treats Coccidiosis, Paratyphoid, Fowl Cholera and Infectious
Coryza. Albon is the sulfa drug with the advantage of remaining
in high concentrations in the blood for a long time-about 12
hours. If the birds drink twice a day, they will maintain good levels of
the drug in the blood. This is not true with the other sulfas, which
need to be consumed every 6 hours. Liquid: use 2 tbsp. per gallon for
6 days. Powder: use 1/2 to 1 tsp. per gal. for 6 days. For Paratyphoid,
treat for 14 days. Dosage is only hearsay for pigeons, consult your
local veterinarian.

Or like SW said, your other option is to get a different med, easier to administer.

Such as Amoxycillin tablets.....

jedds.com or foyspigeonsupplies.com, and call them and have them overnight it.

Or, if he/she is looking very badly, I would recommend a vet visit ASAP.....
