For those who live in northern areas and have to deal with freezing drinking water, this year I tried putting one of those coffee mug warmers under my water pan. So far, it has worked well. No frozen water, only 23 watts, and under $10.

We use a metal pan with insulation lining the inside, and a lightbulb inside. Water sits on top and keeps it just warm enough to stay thawed :) I've also used a heating pad on high.
