We have been adopted by a homeless pigeon

Last week a beautiful rock pigeon decided to ask us for help. She (not sure if male or female) landed on my husband and he not sure what to do called me for help. We have never had birds before but quickly realized this bird was hungry and thirsty. She is healthy, obviously very bonded with people, flies like a rocket but not banded. I called the wildlife rescue people but because the bird is healthy they will not touch it. We have been feeding her, giving her fresh water and she has a perch above our back door which she seems to love. We are at a loss, what do we do now? We would like her to have a home with other pigeons and experienced handlers. We live near London Ontario please help.
Thank you any advice is appreciated!

There are FB groups you can post to get him adopted. Try Palomacy Help Group for pigeon and dove rescue. I think Canada also has a FB group, but can't remember the name. Rather bring him inside your home for safety. Otherwise, keep him and adopted a mate for him later on.

Thank you. I have had some neighbors post on facebook for us, nothing back yet. We are seniors so not real social media savvy. I am hoping some one out there knows of a backyard pigeon enthusiast who will adopt this lovely bird. We live in a farming community so there must be someone in the area who keeps birds. We will do our best and keep trying. Right now she is safe and well fed and we will do our best to find her a good home. Thanks for your response it is greatly appreciated!

I agree that it’s in her best interests to be brought inside. Wild pigeons usually have a flock for protection; on her own, she’s at a great danger of being attacked by predators.
