My young pigeon that ive had for awile now, shes about 65 days old if my calendar is correct . well, even though she is a bit behind in growth, she hasnt gained weight in over 2 weeks, shes been at 250grams for like ever. Is this ok for her? And is there anything I can do to help her gain weight?

8.8 ounces is in the full adult weight range for some types of pigeons including some flying types of rollers and some common pigeons depending on what they are crossed with.
What breed is it?
It should be well rounded along the keel (breastbone).
As long as it is not to sharp on the keel, I would not worry about it.

Some birds are smaller and weigh less. If you are in doubt about the bird's weight, then maybe you can try de-worming it.
Shes just a regular old rock pigeon XD Ive done the deworming thing about a week and a half ago cause my friend told me it would be a good idea. Her keel bone is rounded so maby shes just going to be a light bird.
That weight may be just about right, if she is small. Why/How did you end up with her?

How much does she eat? She should eat about a tablespoon of seed in a sitting about 4 times a day. You can always hand feed if you are not sure she is getting enough.

Make sure to worm her again, as directions specify on the product.
Awile ago i had a post describing that she had gotten splay leg, and in that post it said where i got her, but just to say again, i got her from a friend who raises pigeons. She eats on her own and definitely eats enough. But i can measure out how much she eats in a day. Whenever i hold her, her crop is full, like a bean bag, except in the morning before she has eaten. Ill worm her again though.
Worming a bird consecutive times can add stress to a bird. I would wait 3 weeks before you worm her again. IMO
really? ok then i will wait 2 weeks since i just did it not too long ago, wouldnt want to upset her.

Thank you for the explanation. You can post any updates/concerns to your original thread, and I can merge the threads if you would like, that way we have all the background info, as we get so many new posts, it gets confusing.

As far as the second worming, do AS specified on the directions on the box, manufacturers recommendations is best when using a pigeon specific product.

Sounds like she is eating enough, but still keep an eye on her.

thank you for taking such good care of her.
The splay leg post was in a different section, so i dont know if you can merge or not, do what you think is best. So yea ill follow the directions on the bottle, i think at least one week wait is good.
