Hi Friends,
Good Day! I am getting ready for next years race season. Although I have time yet I want to prepare well

We race from first week of Feb Till mid of Mar. So I have good time to plan.
Breeding is still going on, my question is regarding YB.

YBs who will hatch in June and July, can I fly them in race ? If yes at how much distance ?

One friend was telling me that they will not able to participate as at that time they will be at 8 or 9 flight feather and it is not advised to fly pigeon who molt 8,9 or 10 flight feather.

What are your thoughts ?

our race structure is as following
1st ~106KM
2nd ~160KM
3rd ~250
4th ~350
5th ~430KM
6th ~540KM

Can anyone tell how much time chick take to clear 10 flight feathers?

To fill in all flights if you pull them..it takes about 45 days to grow a wing feather. As to the age of the bird you want to race..at least 12 weeks is preferred. If you toss them at race distances before the first race you will know if they can make it by training them in small distance increments.
You said your first race is 106km...make sure you train them out to at least 70kms two or three times to build stamina and you'll know if the first race is possible or not. Pigeons that are fed right and in shape will surprise you.
