I was cautioned when using wood shavings from a couple of experienced members here sometime ago .........I see the product you are referring to has soft wood and a mixture of paper .

I've personally not had a problem using shavings although I have ceased using it when I was told young birds can pick at it .....then injest it which can be fatal .....

 

I've been using 'clean' aspen wood shavings with my birds. They love laying in them and, I've had no health problems.

 

I use dust free pine curls for horse stalls for my pigeons and have had not one problem with them. if you use this extra safe bedding that you linked for small critters then Iam sure it is fine.

my horses nor do my pigeons have ever had any problems with pine shavings packaged for horse stalls.. I have never used this 'softwood paper bedding" .

 

Many years ago, we used to buy what was called a "washed" pine beddings to use with rodents. It was "cleaned" chemically(?) to reduce/eliminate odor, bacteria, harmful bug eggs, etc. It wasn't as aromatic as some of the untreated bedding I have seen(and smelled)

Don't know if this stuff is still available, but I sure see a lot of wood shavings being sold for bedding????

 

Mine have never had a problem with Pine shavings I use them in my training crates and nest boxes when I start breeding and I do good in the races every week. I wouldn't use cedar however 1 of the guys in the club uses cedar and he flys ok
