Pigeon can’t walk, need help

I found a pigeon 2 months roughly ago in a carpark at work. He stuck under a fence but with him wing trapped. We took him home, had ants in his eye and wouldn’t open them. He had green stringy droppings and at first head
tilting. After two weeks he stopped head tilting and had fine eyes although he wasn’t good at walking. He sat on his tail feathers and now his tail feathers lean at 45 degrees. He is able to traverse by walking but not enough to stay upright at all times. I give him pigeon feed and greens. I have tried calling nearby rehab centres in my area by none get back to won’t accept him because he’s a non native bird. I suspect he had symptoms like pmv but can’t say for certain. It’s been a while and he still isn’t able to walk and I don’t know what to do. Here the vets will euthanise him and I wouldn’t like that to happen. If anyone can suggest what to do that’d be appreciated.

Get him a high calcium grit as well as the liquid calcium to add to his drinking water. Put the grit in a seperate bowl and he will help himself. Cuttlefishbone is also a good source of calcium. You can also peel boiled eggs, let the shells dry out in the sun and crush into small pieces.

Perfect! Does he get any direct sunlight (not through a window) during the day? The D3 from sunlight helps with calcium absorption. Get both. Grit should always be available. Helps with digestion and has minerals they need. The liquid calcium can be added to the drinking water for 7 days. Thereafter once a week.

He does have direct sunlight during the day. His feed includes corn, peas, pellets. smaller seeds I don't know and other things. I will add some other things and let you know. Thanks for all the help so far; I hope it is just calcium deficiency and Pete the pigeon can grow into a handsome little fella who can walk and fly.

We bring him inside a night and he has shelter in the outside area too. How long will it take to recover from calcium deficiency assuming he has it. We’ve given him crushed egg shells before but not for extended periods like a week.

I when we found him that knob on his wing is where the fence trapped his wing, it appears to be growing feathers back, his tail is always on a lean. He’s been like this for 2 months. Could he have sprayed leg from the photos, he’s right legs does go out to his side and therefore his whole body leans to the left and can’t balance. Should trying to collect his legs also help in his treatment? I want to know if he needs medicine too but I don’t think vets will treat him from some wildlife places I called up. Would getting him some probiotics instead be a good course to go down?

It's been 10 days since my last post, Pete seems to only be marginally better, he is able to walk around but it seems to put strain on him. He always has his right leg away from his body and has to lean against something to hold him upright. He is eating his calcium + vitamin foods and drinking probiotic water. He does seem happier and he is able to traverse around the area and go into his carrier at night, either that or I come and see him laying on his side and have to put him upright.

I just wanted to say that I have a pigeon I rescued in September who was unable to walk. She always had a great grip with both feet and a strong push with her legs, but was just off balance and preferred to navigate on her breast, using her wigs for direction and pushing with her feet. I’ve been keeping oyster shell available full time as well as adding a calcium d3 supplement daily. She will plateau for a few days, then make a minor improvement. I got her a harness so we can go on walks. Just me holding her balance, she cruises around quite well. Just this past week, she’s been able to push herself upright to eat and drink standing without assistance. I don’t know if she’ll ever be 100%, but I always celebrate her little milestones, and she’s a happy bird in the meantime!

He is still not able to walk, he's been like this since I've known him (7 or 8 months now). He has walked on occasion but it seems to cause him pain to be on his left leg and his right is awful at keeping balance as it is sticking out pushing him to his left. The calcium, vitamins and probiotics are making him healthier so I'm thankful for that. I wish this bird could walk because it makes taking care of him hard but I love this bird regardless.

Petey never wants to bath or mist or anything relating to water. I've warmed water, I made it anywhich temperature to see how he likes it but he does not want to be near water, I've encouraged him shown him how to, been gentle and patient but he still just refuses. I am forced to have to dip his butt in water to removed poop off his feathers and he does not enjoy that.
