I got a young bird that come home from flying, and I discovered that it's leg was broken. I've never had a bird break it's leg. So wat should I do for it? Or should I kill it. My dad said if it was his bird he would kill it. So any suggestions?

First, I strongly believe we should listen to our parents.
However, as I am sure many people on here will tell you, a pigeon with a broken leg is a relatively common occurrence. And it is a minor injury. If left alone it will heal by itself in just a few weeks. You can buy leg splints for pigeons. If you don't already have one to use the leg may be partly healed until you get one. I recommend getting one for next time. The bird will still be able to eat, fly, and take care of itself.
And you might want to respectfully share the comments on here with your father and ask him to consider waiting a few weeks to see how it heals.

Your dad must not know much about pigeons. The leg can easily be splinted, if it is broke, check this link with some valuable info:http://www.pigeons.biz/forums/f14/broken-leg-62530.html?highlight=broken

A broken leg may hang loose like a rag doll,
however, if he is trying to walk on it it may be sprained and/or bruised badly.

This is your bird, you need to take responsibility for what happens to it and your other birds. It is a living creature that can feel pain, and this is one good learning experience to find out everything you need to know about pigeons and injuries. Start looking for a local pigeon/bird rehabber or another pigeon fancier and/or good avain vet, they can also help.

Remove the bird and put in a hospital cage, to keep it from further damaging leg and so you can observe it. Put a small clean towel and wrap it into a donut, so bird can prop its leg on it.

Hi, I am a total novice with pigeons, but when I saw my sons bird with a broken leg I brought it in, splinted it with a Q-tip and large bandaid. I learned how the anatomy of their legs looked by googling it. I also learned how to roll a towel and make a donut for her to sit in for a few days. Today, 2 weeks later she went from a dangling leg to walking with a faint limp...Its amazing how well she healed.
